Merger strategy pays off as newly created institutions top leaderboards

Two university ranking systems have classed French universities as third and seventh best in the world, with Paris-Saclay University ranked as France’s top institution.

The Academic Ranking of World Universities—known as the Shanghai ranking—and the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings both showed universities in France rising in positions. France ranked third overall in the Shanghai assessment, behind the United States and the United Kingdom, with 30 French universities making the list.
