French higher education real estate comes under the microscope as part of energy-efficiency renovation plans
France’s research ministry is scrutinising building-performance data—notably on energy efficiency—from all public universities, in an effort to improve performance and save money.
Under the France Relaunch recovery plan, €6.7 billion has been earmarked for retrofitting of buildings, of which €2.7bn will be spent on public buildings in order to improve their energy performance. About €1.3bn of the public money will go towards higher education buildings and research laboratories, with €700 million for public universities.
