France calls for ever-closer union in higher education

                

EU presidency comes to an end with push for deeper collaboration and EU-wide degrees

French government ministers at an event to close France’s six-month presidency of the European Union spoke to exhort greater coordination and integration across the bloc.

Speaking at the event in Versailles on 30 June, French higher education and research minister Syvlie Retailleau said that cross-border cooperation among universities was essential not only “to promote common European values, but also to strengthen the attractiveness and performance of European universities in the world”.
