France sets up committee on health risks

“Independent” body will be overseen jointly by ministries of health and research

The French government has formed a new body to monitor and anticipate health risks in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Created by ministerial decree on 31 July, the organisation is called the Committee for Monitoring and Anticipating Health Risks. It will replace two existing groups, the Covid Committee of Scientists and the Vaccine Strategy Orientation Committee, both of which were stood down with the new committee’s creation.
