Science council evaluation concludes that institution would function better if split into four parts
The Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation (SPK), which encompasses museums, educational institutions and research activities, should be dissolved, according to an evaluation by the Wissenschaftsrat, a council advising the German government on science.
The evaluation concluded that the Berlin-based umbrella organisation is “structurally overwhelmed” and struggles to fulfil what could be a leading role in Germany. The foundation should be split into four independent organisations, the evaluation said.
