Advisers urge better support for technology transfer

Bureaucracy and lack of coherent strategy hamper application of research results, report warns

A high-ranking governmental panel has urged Germany’s government to strengthen technology transfer in the country to boost digitalisation and green living.

The annual report of the Expert Commission for Research and Innovation (EFI) said Germany is lagging behind in developing technologies for greater sustainability and better standards in digitisation. The country’s financing, participation conditions and licensing framework for knowledge transfer are inhibiting and not internationally competitive, the EFI said.
