Report demands urgent channelling of research funds towards online capabilities
Germany is showing a clear weakness in developing, exploiting and innovating digital technology, which threatens to undermine the country’s competitiveness, a report has found.
The Expert Commission on Research and Innovation (EFI), a government advisory panel, issued its annual report last week, in which it proposed an evaluation of the entire “funding architecture” of German research. This, the report said, should include a review of existing digital capacities and a potential reorganisation of funding to improve these.
