First funding round shows huge success for German institutions, which have joined 19 pan-EU alliances
German universities are the frontrunners in the first regular round of the Erasmus+ European Universities programme, which supports universities trying to build a pan-European profile through alliances.
Last month, the European Commission announced the winners, who will receive four years of funding. Germany scored the most winning proposals, with 22 participating universities, followed by France (21) and Spain (18), the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) has confirmed.
