EU advised how to boost R&D ties with Africa

Tools for cooperation must be ‘more transparent, simpler and easier to understand’

A group set up to boost research and innovation ties between the EU and Africa has recommended taking steps to simplify African participation in EU programmes and other cooperation mechanisms.

“Simplifying participation by keeping cooperation flexible, while framing it in a holistic, long-term and sustainable perspective, is recommended,” the Africa Task Force of the EU’s Strategic Forum for International Science and Technology Collaboration says in its final report, published on 20 May.
