Association deal between archipelago and European Commission further increases R&D programme’s reach
The Faroe Islands has become the latest non-EU member of the bloc’s Horizon Europe R&D programme, after the self-governing Danish territory completed negotiations with the European Commission for access to the €95.5 billion 2021-27 scheme.
Association enables the fullest possible participation in Horizon Europe for non-EU countries, and allows researchers from those countries to participate in funding applications and single-research grants from the European Research Council, for example. This normally comes in return for the country paying to access the programme.
