Last-minute provisional deal also includes €35 million more for Erasmus+ academic mobility programme

The EU has provisionally agreed to devote an extra €100 million to its Horizon Europe R&D programme next year, following a last-minute deal between negotiators for the European Parliament and national governments in the Council of the EU.

Shortly before the deadline at midnight on 15 November, negotiators agreed a 2022 Horizon Europe budget of €12.239 billion—€60m more than was initially proposed in a draft budget from the European Commission. The Parliament had sought a boost for Horizon Europe of €305m, while the Council wanted cuts of €316m.
