Horizon Europe funding mulled for Bauhaus design initiative

Initiative bringing together science and arts to look at buildings, materials and mindsets

Horizon Europe, the EU’s 2021-27 R&D programme, could be among the funding sources for the bloc’s forthcoming New European Bauhaus initiative, which is intended to bring together expertise from science and the arts to work on sustainability, particularly around buildings.

“We are currently exploring how our instruments could be used to support the initiative,” the EU R&D commissioner Mariya Gabriel said on 4 March. “Horizon Europe, in particular through its missions—which similarly to the New European Bauhaus are also starting from the needs and expectations of citizens—is being looked at.”
