Horizon Europe plan ‘late and vague’

     

Concerns over omissions and rumoured severance of international links mar praise for Commission strategy

Research leaders have welcomed “ambitious” priorities unveiled for the EU’s vast Horizon Europe R&D programme, but warned that the strategy could be undermined by lateness, missing details and rumours that some nations will be excluded from technology-related calls.

The European Commission published a ‘strategic plan’ on 15 March for how its political agenda will shape top-down funding calls in the first four years of the €95 billion, 2021-27 Horizon Europe programme.
