Academy group says science communication is “barely present” in EU R&D scheme Horizon Europe
A group of European learned academies has called out the EU for what it says is a failure to properly support science communication, which has “hindered” development in the field.
The term science communication “barely” features in the bloc’s €95.5 billion R&D funding scheme Horizon Europe, according to a report from the European Federation of Academies of Sciences and Humanities (Allea), the German federal ministry for research and education, and a German science communication group. The groups say that no specific funding for science communication is planned in Horizon Europe beyond the European Commission’s recent call for bids for a European Competence Centre for Science Communication.
