Research groups still unhappy about EU funder’s IP rules

                  

Commission tweaks do not fix concerns over innovation council’s rules, say universities and research organisations

Changes to the intellectual property rules of the EU’s flagship innovation funder have failed to address the main concerns that universities and research organisations have about them, representatives have told Research Professional News.

This week the European Commission published the 2023 work programme of the European Innovation Council, which has a budget of about €10 billion for 2021-27 to support the development and commercialisation of new technologies. A Commission official briefed the media that the work programme contained tweaks to address “some of” the concerns raised by research groups about the EIC’s rules on IP.
