Mission has €360 million in 2022-23 R&D funding to boost sustainability efforts in European cities

The European Commission has named 112 cities that will take part in the EU’s R&D-based mission to create at least 100 climate-neutral cities by 2030.

The mission is one of five being funded by the EU’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme. Launched in September 2021, the missions covering cities, climate, cancer, oceans and soil are intended to increase the impact of researchers’ work on major societal challenges.
