Association of ERC Grantees offers full membership to UK scientists unable to take up grants
UK researchers cut off from their European Research Council funding have been offered membership of the association for ERC grant winners, in a small victory for research relations across borders.
Political disputes over trade with Northern Ireland continue to hold up UK researchers’ access to the EU €95.5 billion (£80.5bn) Horizon Europe R&D programme. A number of leading UK researchers have had to forgo ERC grants and take up UK-fallback funding instead, triggering fears that this will involve them missing out on the prestige and networking that comes with the council’s awards.
