EU tones down proposal to explore new ‘widening’ funding

Latest presidency draft text calls for “tailor-made” rather than “more diversified” actions

The EU appears to be scaling back its plans to explore new options for widening participation in its research and innovation programme.

Since 2014 the EU R&I programme has included widening funding to support lagging performers—currently the 13 countries that have joined the bloc since 2004, as well as Luxembourg and Portugal.
