Process to shape future Horizon Europe priorities kicks off

Strategic planning exercise will influence top-down R&D programme goals for 2025-27

The European Commission has launched a process to refine the 2025-27 priorities of the EU’s €95.5 billion research and innovation funding programme, Horizon Europe.

EU R&I commissioner Mariya Gabriel said at the Commission’s Research and Innovation Days conference on 28 September that the ‘strategic planning exercise’ would span the breadth of the programme, but would have a particular focus on its politically directed second pillar, focused on socioeconomic challenges and industrial competitiveness.
