Commission launches policy experiment with R&D missions

Project to focus on citizen engagement in push for more experimentation in EU R&D policy

The European Commission is experimenting with research and innovation policy related to the EU’s five R&I-based missions.

The missions, launched in September 2021, are aimed at increasing the impact of researchers’ work on major social challenges, covering climate, cancer, oceans, cities and soil. In 2023, €600 million has been allocated to funding calls under the missions.
