Initiative for Science in Europe says linguistic complexity hampers participation in EU R&D programme

The European Commission has been urged to simplify the language used in the EU’s research and innovation programme due to concerns that researchers must “become versed in a technocratic lingo” to win funding from it.

The Initiative for Science in Europe (ISE), a group of learned societies and research organisations, is the latest body to publish its response to a European Commission consultation on the 2021-27 Horizon Europe programme.
