Commission accused of making “no effort” to support universities on Israeli institutions’ involvement in projects

The leader of a group of Flemish universities has criticised the EU over a lack of support for institutions trying to understand whether Israel’s actions in Gaza affect the ability of Horizon Europe projects involving Israeli institutions to operate within the EU research and innovation programme’s rules.

UN investigators have concluded that both Israel and Hamas have committed war crimes in their conflict since 7 October, and that Israel has violated international humanitarian and human rights laws.
