Voluntary agreement supports Sustainable Development Goals developed by United Nations

The academic publisher Springer Nature has signed an agreement under which it will promote the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals, and says it “recognises the responsibility of the publishing industry” to contribute to the process.

The SDG Publishers Compact deal, which Springer Nature signed on 21 December, aims to support the achievement of globally agreed targets in education, health and other areas through the publication of books and journals that will “help inform, develop and inspire action in that direction”. The SDGs, which include easier access to education and freedom of information, are meant to be achieved by 2030.
