Mars 2020 mission will seek chemical traces of ancient life

Five Europe-based researchers are taking part in a Nasa-led mission to look for evidence of life having existed on Mars and learn more about the geology of the planet.

A rocket carrying a Mars lander and sample-collecting rover called Perseverance blasted off from Florida for the Mars 2020 mission on 30 July, and is due to arrive on the Martian surface on 18 February 2021.
