EU’s €1 billion neuroscience initiative eyes future with leadership shift from Switzerland to Brussels
The Human Brain Project, the EU’s 10-year neuroscience research and innovation programme, has completed the long-planned handover of its coordination from a Swiss university to a Belgian non-profit organisation.
Ebrains, set up to run a digital neuroscience infrastructure of the same name that was spun out of the HBP in November 2019, will now coordinate the entire HBP. It has taken over from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL), which had coordinated the HBP since the programme’s launch in 2013.
