EU has world-leading policy for open access, Commission says

Almost all research papers from Horizon 2020 R&D funding programme were made openly available

The open-access policy of the EU’s 2014-20 R&D programme was world-leading, the European Commission has said, as it revealed that 98 per cent of the peer-reviewed papers reporting research funded by the programme were made openly accessible.

“This makes Horizon 2020’s open-access policy one of the most successful in the world,” the Commission said in its annual report on EU research activities, published this week.
