Latest EU presidency text takes even harder line on open access

        

Text no longer backs mix of for-profit and not-for-profit organisations in scholarly publishing

The Swedish presidency of the Council of the EU member state governments has adopted an even harder line on open access in its latest draft text on academic publishing.

On 1 March, the presidency published an updated set of draft Council conclusions on the topic, which the bloc’s research ministers and other government representatives will consider over the coming months and eventually adopt in the summer—albeit probably in amended form.
