Landmark research and innovation performance report finds EU lacking in important areas compared with rivals
The EU must do more to see off the stiff competition it faces from its global R&D rivals, the European Commission has warned in its latest biennial report on the Science, Research and Innovation Performance of the EU.
The SRIP report, published on 27 May, says that “grave developments” are affecting the EU’s scientific performance, including Brexit, the “sharp rise” of China, digitalisation and the need to make economic activities more sustainable.
