EU institutions still divided on parts of innovation agency plans

Agreement on budget flexibility and themes for innovation network expected soon, MEP says

The EU’s three main legislative institutions are still split on how to implement the 2021-27 budget for the European Institute of Innovation and Technology, one of the lead MEPs for the negotiations has said.

The EIT uses funds from the EU R&D programme to support knowledge exchange and capacity building in Knowledge and Innovation Communities. These focus on certain themes, such as climate change and digitisation. Speaking to the European Parliament’s research committee on 14 January, Maria da Graça Carvalho reported on talks about the EIT between the Parliament, the European Commission and the Council of the EU.
