Patent filings in cutting-edge field found to have increased fourfold over five years

Global applications for European patents on the use of quantum technologies in the space sector have rocketed by more than 400 per cent over the past five years, according to the European Patent Office.

With the space sector becoming ever more important to global economies, an increasing number of organisations are turning towards quantum technologies for uses such as secure communication and Earth observation.
