External manager chosen for EU’s troubled innovation fund

Much-delayed European Innovation Council equity fund “now fully operational”, says Commission

The European Commission has selected an external manager for the equity fund of the EU’s European Innovation Council. The fund has been beset by delays, partly as a result of the Commission’s decision to put it under external management.

The move should mean the EIC fund can clear its backlog of investment decisions “in the coming months, with the most urgent cases being treated in the short term”, the Commission said on 29 September.
