EU leading on hydrogen patents, study finds

Bloc found to be responsible for 28 per cent of global hydrogen patents filed

The EU is leading the world on internationally patented inventions involving hydrogen technology, according to a new study by the European Patent Office and International Energy Agency.

In recent years, the bloc has focused on hydrogen as a potential alternative to forms of energy that cause higher levels of carbon dioxide emissions, as a way to mitigate climate change.
