Plan responds to global competition, but MEPs warn against “race to the bottom” with US
The EU has unveiled a Green Deal Industrial Plan to boost investment in clean energy and ensure that European companies can compete in the industries that will play a prominent part in the transition away from fossil fuels and in climate change mitigation.
Announced by European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen (pictured) on 17 January at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, the plan includes legislating with a Net Zero Industry Act to focus investment in strategic areas.
