Commission adopts stance on research for standards-setting

            

Universities and other organisations told they should devise strategies for influencing products and services

The European Commission has adopted a set of recommendations for how EU research can contribute to the adoption and refinement of standards for products and services.

Published early this month, the recommendation for a code of practice on standardisation in the European Research Area recommends that research organisations should develop policies for which of their activities can contribute to standardisation and how standardisation can help wring socioeconomic gains from research results.
