Study places jump by record 12%

Government scrambles to provice places after huge improvement in A-level grades

The government has opened up a record number of places for students entering higher education for the academic year 2020-21, with an additional 2,225 places added to the mix.

A total of 1,350 of these places were made available by the higher education institutions themselves at the behest of the department. All are fully funded by the government, according to an announcement on 11 September.
