Number of spin-offs and patents rising—but data misses Covid-19 impact

Ireland saw more than 2,000 ongoing research collaborations between higher education institutions and companies at the end of 2019, according to a review undertaken by Knowledge Transfer Ireland.

The level of collaborative activity was up by 19 per cent year on year when compared with 2018, the agency said in its Annual Knowledge Transfer Survey, released on 10 September.
