Academy calls for independent chief scientific adviser

Role should be split from its alignment with director of Science Foundation Ireland, it says

The Royal Irish Academy, a body of experts in the sciences and humanities, has demanded that the post of Ireland’s chief scientific adviser to the government be made an independent office.

Specifically, the role should not be linked to the post of director-general of Science Foundation Ireland, as is currently the case, the academics said.
