Network to tackle Ireland’s climate emergencies

Government convenes all-island research group to solve biodiversity loss and boost peatland restoration

An interdisciplinary network of researchers from Ireland has been launched to address the climate and biodiversity emergencies facing the island. 

The group was launched on 9 November by Ireland’s Taoiseach (prime minister) Micheál Martin and deputy first minister of Northern Ireland Michelle O’Neill. The All-Island Climate and Biodiversity Research Network (AICBRN), a researcher-led initiative developed in late 2019, includes members from eight higher education institutions across Ireland.
