Extra cash to boost Irish Research Council stipends

Budget increase confirmed to close gap in support for early stage researchers

The Irish Research Council has received a budget top-up of €3.2 million to increase the value of scholarships and fellowships, providing a financial boost to early-career researchers.

The funding will “better support postgraduate and postdoctoral researchers in Ireland across all disciplines, and directly benefits close to 1,300 early-career researchers,” according to a statement from Ireland’s research ministry. While the IRC funds research across all academic disciplines, it is the principle national funder in the arts, humanities and social sciences.
