Waterford Institute of Technology staff oppose move over funding and governance concerns

Two technology institutes in Ireland have submitted an application to merge and form a new technological university, despite staff at one of the institutions voting against the proposal.

The governing body of Waterford Institute of Technology voted to approve the application on Tuesday 27 April, with the governing body at Institute of Technology Carlow following suit on 29 April. However, Waterford’s approval came just days after academic staff at the institution rejected the proposed merger.
