Uncertainty of recent years ends with steady financial increase for Italian scheme

A long-awaited call under Italy’s PRIN programme for research projects of national interest was launched last month, after the first announcement was made during an event hosted by Research Professional News.

The call, formally announced at the event by research minister Gaetano Manfredi (pictured), assigns €179 million to the PRIN scheme in 2020, followed by €250m in 2021 and €300m in 2022. This brings funding levels close to the last run of the scheme in 2017 while also compensating for skipped years (see chart).
