Increase of €500m takes higher education financing in Italy to highest level since 2007
Public spending on Italian universities has increased from €7.9 billion to €8.4bn this year, via a last-minute boost to the country’s ordinary fund for higher education.
The Italian ministry of universities and research published a decree this month that covers a €500 million increase to the fund. The decree also outlines how the total amount of money will be allocated for 2021—for instance, €637m will be spent on student welfare.
