Lobby group brings together Italian ERC winners

Grant-holders unite to push for more blue-sky research and retain talent in the country

European Research Council grant winners connected to Italy have launched a non-profit association to lobby policymakers for better support of excellent research and encourage other winners to stay in the country.

The group, dubbed ERC in Italy, aims to reach out to the 627 Italians who have received an ERC grant so far, and to international grantees working in Italy. One of their aims is to ensure that the government makes the best use of the funds of the Next Generation EU programme—a Covid-19 recovery scheme—which have started to arrive.
