Maria Carrozza accepts position, ending months of leadership uncertainty at CNR
Italy’s national research council, the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR), has a new president: Maria Chiara Carrozza, a bioengineer and former rector of Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna di Pisa.
Carrozza was officially named as the winning candidate on 12 April by Cristina Messa, Italy’s newly appointed universities and research minister. This means Messa kept a promise to rapidly give the CNR—the country’s main public research funder—a new head after many months of postponements and delays.
