Report gives green light to Italy’s energy transition

Country looks well positioned to boost research in sustainable tech and services, banking group finds

Italy is the second-most successful country in Europe—after Germany—at exporting technology and knowledge in renewable energy, according to a report published by banking group Intesa Sanpaolo.

The report said that Italy is placed sixth worldwide, with a 3 per cent share of global exports in the field. The renewable energy sector in Italy employs 60,000 workers and has an estimated annual turnover of €23 billion, it stated.
