Ministerial decree sets 2022 spending limits, but research council calls allocation “inadequate”

Maria Cristina Messa, Italy’s research and universities minister, has published the annual decree that distributes funding to the country’s 12 public research institutes.

The money forms the 2021 science fund and will be paid out from the end of this year through 2022. It is based on multi-year plans proposed by each institute in compliance with the priorities of Italy’s National Research Programme (PNR).
