Italian research experiencing small boom, says major report

                    

Researcher numbers and spending on the rise but problems remain with PhDs and gender equality

Italy is enjoying a mini-boom in research with investments rising along with the number of researchers, according to a major report presented publicly this month in Rome.

But problems with the pipeline for future researchers remain, with no real change in longstanding problems including gender imbalances and a very low proportion of PhDs.
