Without additional Italian government support, a huge wave of extra money could fade away
Italy’s research minister has praised scientists and academia for rapidly overcoming hurdles caused by the many European Commission requirements for grants and loans stemming from EU post-Covid recovery funds.
Minister of universities and research Maria Cristina Messa said competitive calls had allocated more than €4.3 billion in the last six months to establish five national research centres of excellence and 11 local innovation ecosystems, and to strengthen or create from scratch a total of 49 scientific and technological infrastructures for innovation.
