The rise of women in professorial posts has slowed down, survey shows

The share of female professors in the Netherlands rose by just 1.3 percentage points in 2019—compared with 2.2 percentage points the year before—according to data published by the Rathenau Institute.

Based on these growth rates, it will take between 11 and 20 years for the number of professorial posts to be shared equally between men and women. In 2019, less than a quarter of professors at Dutch universities were women, according to the Rathenau Institute, a policy think tank.
