Applied science institutes left waiting for funding clarity

Economic affairs secretary says budget decisions will not be made this year

The latest evaluation of the budgets of applied science institutes in the Netherlands—which are struggling for funding after years of cuts—will not be made available until 2021, the government has said.

Economic affairs secretary Mona Keijzer sent a letter to parliament earlier this month in which she dashed hopes that any decision on their budgets would be made this year.
